In 2004, a new stage of cultural cooperation began between the twin cities of Poznań and Kharkiv, dedicated to the 350th anniversary of Kharkiv!
The exhibition “Kharkiv Photography” opened in the Poznań City Gallery “Arsenal”. At that time, “Arsenal” had existed for 55 years and was considered one of the most famous galleries in Poland.
The exhibition included 60 works by Kharkiv photographers: Volodymyr Bysov, Volodymyr Ohloblin, Yevhen Pavlov, Oleg Malovany, Serhiy Solonsky and Oleksandr Suprun. The curator of the exhibition was Tetyana Tumasyan, and the author of the art history article for the catalogue was Tetyana Pavlova.
For its part, the Municipal Office opened the exhibition “The Roadless Path of Imagination”, which featured photographic landscapes by twenty-four Polish authors.
The exhibition was presented by curator Antoni Ruth and two photo artists whose works were exhibited. The opening ceremony was attended by an official delegation of Poznań, led by its mayor, Mr. Ryszard Grobelny. The exhibition at the Kharkiv City Art Gallery was a gift from Poznań to the 350th anniversary of Kharkiv and a cultural event within the framework of the Year of Poland in Ukraine.
