SUMMARY:ART FOR CHANGE. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM OF BIENNALE
DESCRIPTION:Why does a Polish artist sew shoes together with Kenyans and how does it change the world?  \nWe will talk at the lecture “Art for Change: Poland\, Kenya\, Brazil”\, part of the educational program of the Biennale of Young Art. Entrance is free. \nIn 2015 Alicja Wysocka went to Nairobi\, the capital of Kenya. Having settled in the urban slums of Matera\, the artist opened a shoe workshop. Soon with the help of the Polish foundation Fundacja Razem Pamoja she created the Cooperative Spółdzielnia Ushirika where women sew school uniforms and bags for local children. Ushirika works as a cultural and educational centre\, providing income to its members.
