DESCRIPTION:As part of its “Our Heritage” program\, the Kharkiv Municipal Gallery presents a retrospective of Valerian Nesterov’s paintings (1940s–1980s) and graphic works\, including “small-format” works that the artist himself did not intend to exhibit during his lifetime.\n\n…He was a participant in the Great Patriotic War and served as a pilot; this can be traced in his works\, as the artist seems to look down from above…\n…from such a perspective\, the mountains do not seem so high\, but instead form an integral landscape.\n…he loved a change of scenery and traveled extensively. There are no subjects in his works painted from memory or drawn from friends’ stories; everything was painted “here and now.”
