SUMMARY:LECTURE BY ANTON LEDERER (AUSTRIA)
DESCRIPTION:On September 10\, at 18:00\, an open lecture by Anton Lederer will take place within the educational platform “Curatorial Intensive” initiated by the Municipal Gallery. \nAnton Lederer was born in Graz (Austria) in 1970. In 1994\, he began organizing exhibitions in his own home. A year later\, together with Margarethe Makovec\, they created their first initiative\, “Room for Art.” Then\, in 1999\, they founded the “Rotor” gallery and have since managed this contemporary art center in Graz. Their program focuses on socially and politically significant artistic processes. Thanks to the activities of the \n“Rotor” association\, a system of close contacts between artists\, curators\, and organizations in Southeastern Europe has been established. The aim of this community is to establish connections between what is happening in art\, as well as to discuss current developments in this field. \nIn his lecture and seminar\, Anton Lederer will focus on the questions: “What kind of art do we want to present and make? And with whom do we want to communicate in our cultural activities?” Many art institutions and initiatives face the same situation: there is a well-informed but relatively small audience of experts and art lovers. Do we want to communicate only with these people? How can we attract additional audiences? \nSince the lecture has a dialogue format\, please prepare questions for Anton Lederer.
