SUMMARY:“NO TABOO. UPDATE» PROJECT WITH PARTICIPATION OF NONSTOPMEDIA WINNERS OF DIFFERENT YEARS
DESCRIPTION:The first competition-festival NonStopMedia took place back in 2003. Starting from 2004\, the festival began to be held in the format of a biennale: the program expanded and\, in addition to the competition\, a parallel program appeared which included literary readings\, musical concerts\, theatrical performances\, lectures\, etc. Without slowing down\, we were planning to break into the art world also this year with the tenth anniversary festival! In order to conduct it on a large scale\, we applied for a grant from the UCF and met all the requirements of the fund to receive a grant\, passed two difficult stages\, but the fund suddenly changed the direction of its actions\, canceling its own rules there and then. Therefore\, we were forced to put NonStopMedia X on pause. \n  \nThe Municipal Gallery together with partners is opening the autumn exhibition season with a large-scale project “No Taboo. Update”\, dedicated to the anniversary festival NonStopMedia X. \n  \nOpenings in three city art spaces will take place on September 4th \nat 16:00 The main hall of the MG \nat 17:00 ART Basement of MG \nat 18:30 “VovaTanya” gallery \n  \nTaboo is a system of prohibition of certain actions or behavior because of conviction that they are dangerous. In everyday life\, these canons provide stability and balance. At the same time\, they slow down progress and make it impossible for society to develop. Art functions outside of social rules. This is a world of absolute freedom\, where the paths of constant transformations lead. Established forms\, classical canons\, social stereotypes and one’s own fears are obstacles that obstruct entrance to this desired space. Acceptance of these influences leads to the road to oblivion. Attractive conformity guarantees falling into the trap of banality. The path of artists is a relentless struggle against external and internal prohibitions. Taboos have a powerful force and a lustful ability to take vision and meaning with them. Therefore\, after the battle\, artists often have to stop to restore their own essence. The cycle of destruction and renewal maintains the ability to travel the world of art and reflect its magical and changing reality. The viewer is a guide; instead of a map\, he uses his own vision. A frank dialogue between the viewer and the artist facilitates and speeds up the path to the world of art. Project “No Taboo. Updates” is dedicated to the 10th anniversary of Non Stop Media – a festival that helps young artists gain visibility. The presented art objects are a demonstration of the paths that the artists who have taken part in the festival have already taken. \n  \nThe exhibitions will feature works by the following authors: \nYuliana Alimova \nArtem Volokitin \nSergey Grigoryan \nMikhail Dolyanovskiy \nMaria Drozdova \nKonstantin Zorkin \nNatalia Zotikova \nAlexander Kaplya \nValery Kopysov \nEvgeny Korshunov \nVitaly Kokhan \nTatiana Malinovskaya \nSergei Melnichenko \nRoman Mikhailov \nRoman Minin \nNina Murashkina \nOlga Ottenheim \nJulia Po (with the participation of A. Gumilevsky) \nLarisa Stadnik \nVictoria Teletien \nOlya Fedorova \nMaxim Finogeeva \nYuri Shtaida \nAlexey Yalovega \n  \nAlso on the opening day\, each of the locations will host performances from regular participants in the “Performance Night” campaign — Maria Drozdova\, Natalia Lesnaya\, Yuri Shtaida\, a special guest of the project from Berlin Anya Ibsch\, who participated with the support of our partner “Das Nürnberger Haus in Charkiw”. \nThe project was curated by Larisa Stadnik and Ales Tomakh.
