SUMMARY:"SAVE KULIKOV'S LEGACY"
DESCRIPTION:Following a forced pause due to quarantine\, the exhibition «Figure» will open at the gallery on November 24 as part of the anniversary program «Save Kulikov’s Legacy»\, initiated by the Municipal Gallery in 2015. The program is an ongoing retrospective of Vitaliy Mykolayovych Kulikov\, aimed at revealing the Master’s artistic legacy to the audience\, presenting and analyzing the artist’s work\, his unique style and worldview\, not only as an independent artist but also as a representative of the little-studied Kharkiv nonconformist movement of the 1960s–1980s. \nVitaliy Kulikov (1935–2015) was a renowned Ukrainian artist\, painter\, graphic artist\, book designer and poster artist\, professor at the Department of Drawing and Painting at Kharkiv National University of Civil Engineering and Architecture\, and recipient of the Municipal Prize (2006). Kulikov interpreted and transformed the traditions of the Avant-Garde of the 1910s–1920s in his work. A philosophical perspective in his works is combined with a clear plastic expression. During his 40 years of teaching\, Vitaliy Mykolayovych became a mentor to many students and was one of the founders of the creative association «Litera A». \nThe exhibition at the Municipal Gallery will feature graphic works with Kulikov’s «models»\, video materials about the artist\, as well as paintings selected by Vitaliy Mykolayovych himself for the Wikipedia article. \nThe project will also include a parallel program\, which\, due to the pandemic\, is moving from an offline to an online format: curator-led tours\, a series of meetings with artists and students of V. Kulikov\, a screening of Olena Hryhorieva’s documentary about V.M. Kulikov\, and the unveiling of a memorial plaque. \nExhibition hours: Monday through Friday\, from 11:00 to 19:00.\nSaturday and Sunday – CLOSED.\nDue to quarantine restrictions\, visitors are required to wear masks. No more than 4 people may be present in the gallery’s exhibition space at the same time. \nYou can also visit our online exhibition in the virtual space of the «V-art» platform. The exhibition brings together the most significant works by V.
