DESCRIPTION:Stanislav Silantiev: \n“Museum collections\, like individual works\, demonstrate a cross-section of an era\, reflecting a given degree of social development\, the level of its decline or monotonous remaining in the same place. The era of contemporary museum-institutional stagnation in Ukraine acquires its culminating dystrophic form at the moment when any museum collection becomes nothing more than a fiction\, a simulation of its own ambitions\, designed for aggressive isolation from everything that may entail the collapse of the system of moral and physical exhaustion of the internal (not to mention the external artistic discourse). As a result\, museum-analytical tasks\, archiving\, and research of material directly depend on the administrative hierarchy\, the secret of which is revealed already at the first meeting of various commissions authorized to determine the fate of the history of Ukrainian art. Using the dubious right of collective representation\, an entire cohort of ‘cultural figures\,’ who are simultaneously members of commissions\, recommend more and more new managers for positions. Often such managers become either representatives of corporate interests or small abscesses on the body of the Ukrainian cultural landscape\, which is in a state of ‘permanent revolution.’ Recent competitions and the signing of contracts with new directors of Ukrainian state cultural institutions\, like any other mechanisms of an authoritarian\, neo-feudal state\, do not withstand any criticism. As a result of the influence of vulgar opportunism focused on Ukrainocentrism and the personal fetishization of any state ideology\, galleries and all kinds of organizations become surrounded by a pack of ‘curators\,’ ‘directors\,’ and ‘dealers’ who occupy\, within the system of social values\, the position of keepers of the key to their own indifference. Forming the general cultural background through the collection of various material values\, Ukrainian museums and their administrations are ‘museums of museums’ akin to the ‘Lenin Mausoleum\,’ where the assembled collection testifies not to the flourishing of human thought\, but rather to the level of decline of human consciousness. Let us pay attention to the works presented in the exhibition. Are they not worthy of taking their place of honor in the museum collections of museums and institutions that have long ceased to exist?” \n  \n
