DESCRIPTION:The last opening of 2019 in the Art Basement is the personal exhibition “To earn” by Victoria Tymonova. \nFor the second year in a row\, Kharkiv Municipal Gallery holds an open call for young artists to give them an opportunity to showcase their projects in the Art Basement. \nOne of the three projects selected in 2018 is “To earn” by Victoria Tumanova\, a young artist from Dnipro. Previously she collaborated with the Artsvit Gallery (Dnipro)\, the Foundation residence (Klementowice\, Poland)\, and took part in the curatorial project “The importance of being honest” by VIDSOTOK group. \nThe artist writes about her project: \n“Migration “to earn” money is a way to exclude yourself from a system that cannot live up to your expectations\, allow you to reach your potential or meet your basic needs. You can express your disagreement\, declare the act of surrender and hide in the well-known European direction. And there is nothing shameful about that\, because it is such a colorful and meaningful way of civil disobedience that there are no other words needed.”
