Irina Olenina “Digits, Letters, and Art: Chronopis”

03.12.2021 @ 2:00 pm - 24.12.2021 @ 7:00 pm

We present Irina Olenina’s improvisation project, a graphic designer, graphic artist, and author of many experimental projects at the Municipal Gallery, who has been accompanying the life of the Gallery from its earliest steps. Irina’s brushes have created both logos of the gallery. The first logo pays homage to the classical art, showing the loyalty to the new municipal institution, while the second logo, reflecting the author’s and the Municipal Gallery’s fascination and interest in contemporary art, takes the form of a suprematist symbol that has been accompanying us for over a decade.

And now, let’s hear the thoughts on this exhibition from Irina Olenina herself:

“I am a designer of galleries and exhibitions. At first, I thought I was an artist myself, but the designer in me prevailed. I enjoy art, the artistic scene, and deciphering the puzzles of ‘what the author wanted to say.’ I love to observe art actively. I have participated in many early exhibitions of the gallery, created numerous designs, and visited more exhibitions than any other Municipal Gallery staff member. Of course, I cannot compare myself with T.A. (referring to specific individuals), but perhaps I have seen more exhibitions compared to Marina or Lesya. Nevertheless, I still provide a different perspective, an enthusiastic view from the sidelines. The gallery opens and showcases the art of the world, and I promote it. We together nurture and foster art. By the way, this could be a theme for our next thematic photoshoot: Municipal Gallery staff as gardeners cultivating a beautiful garden.”

It couldn’t be said any better!

It remains to add that Olenina’s jazz in the exhibition will be complemented by the sounds and rhythms of other authors whose participation and significance in the life of the Municipal Gallery cannot be overestimated: Alexander Ridny, Anna Ivanova, Irina Ilyinska, Vasily Antoniuk, Eduard Yashin, Volodymyr Bisov, and some other artists, whose friendly support may arise directly during the formation of the exhibition space.
