INDIAN SUMMER
25.09.2014 @ 5:00 pm - 09.10.2014 @ 7:00 pm
The events in Ukraine have caused many people to sink into a state of depression and disappointment, anxiety about an unknown future and an unstable present. And it might seem that the traditional theme of female beauty has lost its relevance. But revolutions and wars always come to an end, leaving behind only the bitterness of loss. Artists and sculptors throughout the ages, seeking to emulate God, have aspired to create something eternal and imperishable.
With this exhibition, we turn people’s attention to the magnificent image of the woman who gives human life. Since ancient times, this image has occupied an important and significant place in the visual arts. It has been captured in many forms in images of the Madonna and the Mother of God — central figures in painting, sculpture, and icon painting throughout the world from ancient times to the present day. Thus, it has also become the central theme of our creative and physical lives.
Having found common points of contact where painting transitions into sculpture (colored sculpture) and sculpture into painting (volume and plasticity), we decided to bring our works together in this exhibition, calling it “Indian Summer” not only because of its theme, but also because of this wonderful time of year, trying to catch fragments of summer like pieces of colored glass in a kaleidoscope (from the artists’ concept).
