Screening of fifty-nine 59-second videos.
In honor of the 20th anniversary of the international 59 Seconds Video festival, the art platform Project 59 is organizing a series of screenings.
Each video lasts 59 seconds. The best 59 videos, chosen by the festival audience in 2005–2008 based on the results of 59 screenings in different countries of the world, will be shown in Kharkiv.
The festival was founded in 2005 by the organization Project 59 (Iryna Danilova and Gairam Levy) at 59 Franklin Street, Tribeca, New York. The platform has become a center for the new digital video art scene, facilitating the exchange of ideas and information. The program includes a wide range of video works: mini-documentaries, political satire, narrative and experimental works, as well as provocative videos that combine the concept of the number 59.
The emergence of the first video editing programs in the 1990s opened up new horizons for artists who experimented with the moving image. Today, the development of artificial intelligence technologies allows us to look at these processes from a new perspective and rethink the connection between artistic innovations of the past and the present.
