Open Call 2025. Exhibition “Paths” by Vladislav Ryaboshtan 05.07–26.07.2025

05.07.2025 - 26.07.2025

The path is a philosophical concept universal to many cultures and worldviews, embodied in a multitude of religious, folklore, and popular images, reflected by artists and thinkers of all times. It remains relevant and often interpreted through one’s own experience and experiences.

“Paths” is an exhibition by the Kyiv artist, a native of the city of Dnipro, Vladyslav Ryaboshtan, who explores the theme through gloomy abstract forms, an expressive play of black and white, and experiments with materials.

“Since childhood, I have been surrounded by factories, railways, an unfinished metro, and many other industrial objects. Even after I grew up and moved to another city, I wanted to find places with an atmosphere that I was used to,” the artist describes his interest.

The series “Choosing the Path,” presented in the exhibition, continues the theme of depicting the tracks of the Kyiv metro as a shelter, which Vladyslav began after the start of a full-scale invasion. Back then, these were technically accurate depictions of everyday life scenes of people hiding from shelling. Now, the artist has turned to less obvious and much more poetic images; his compositions have lost their visual clarity and have become a whirlpool of abstract rhythms in which everyone can read their own experiences.

“Paths” is an attempt to return to their own life path after the cataclysm. To rise to the light from under the ground.
