We would like to start a series of posts about 2002 by telling about the “Metaphysical Collection”. On April 2, 2002, the Kharkiv Municipal Gallery hosted the opening of Andriy Bludov’s exhibition. The artist presented a new series of paintings to the audience.
Andriy Morozov said about this project: “The Metaphysical Collection depicts 12 stages of the alchemical Act, thus being a metaphorical reproduction of the artist’s vision of reality, its comprehension (like an alchemist) and an attempt at spiritual transformation.”
It is important to note that Kharkiv residents were the first to see the metaphysical works of the Kyiv artist. Our city was chosen by Bludov not by chance. Kharkiv is familiar and beloved to him.
Here’s what he said at the opening of the exhibition: “I found myself in a strange state when I returned to the city where I hadn’t been for 18 years.”
The impetus for creating the series was old alchemical books, the symbols of which contained a mystery for the author. “It seemed that if I created a painting, I could immerse myself in what exists beyond the closed sense.”
During the opening of the exhibition, many sincere, warm words were said to Andriy Bludov. The audience was interested in his paintings, they wanted to return to them again.
