In 2004, a new chapter in cultural cooperation between the twin cities of Poznań and Kharkiv began, dedicated to the 350th anniversary of Kharkiv.
The Poznań Municipal Gallery “Arsenal,” one of Poland’s most renowned galleries, hosted the exhibition “Kharkiv Photography.” Featuring 60 works by Kharkiv photographers, including Volodymyr Bysov, Volodymyr Ogloblyn, Yevhen Pavlov, Oleh Malovaniy, Sergiy Solonsiy, and Oleksandr Suprun, the exhibition was curated by Tetyana Tumasyan. Tetyana Pavlova contributed an art history article to the exhibition catalog.
In response, the Municipal Gallery in Kharkiv presented the exhibition “Off the Beaten Track of Imagination,” showcasing photographic landscapes by 24 Polish artists. The exhibition was curated by Antoni Rut and featured works by two of the participating photographers. The opening ceremony was attended by an official delegation from Poznań, led by Mayor Ryszard Grobelny. The exhibition at the Kharkiv Municipal Art Gallery was a gift from Poznań to Kharkiv on the occasion of its 350th anniversary and a cultural event within the Year of Poland in Ukraine.
