To mark the 11th anniversary of the Municipal Gallery, it hosted the exhibition “Culture” by Nikolai Matsenko. This project was a continuation of the gallery exchange: in June 2009, the MG presented an exhibition by Vitaly Kulikov at the “Yagalereya” gallery. And in September of the same year, Kharkiv hosted Matsenko’s art project, which had previously been exhibited at Pavel Gudimov’s gallery.

The project was an artistic interpretation of the phenomenon of the concept of “culture” a reflection on its purpose and a search for its various manifestations.

“As long as I can remember, I, like most of my compatriots, have been troubled by the fundamental uncertainty of the concept of ‘culture.’ I have persistently studied literary works and scientific papers that address this issue… I have almost completely approached the answers to the questions that have concerned me,” — this is how the author himself spoke about the concept of his project.
