We conclude our reflections on 2011 with the joint participation of the Municipal Gallery and our partner gallery VOVATANYA in the 6th Contemporary Art Forum ART-KYIV contemporary – a large-scale art project that featured exhibits from approximately 30 contemporary art galleries from Ukraine, Russia, Germany, and France.
The Vat Art Agency and the Kharkiv Municipal Gallery presented the project “On Earth” by Yuriy Vatkin and Volodymyr Bysov, an unexpected creative tandem of an abstract artist and a photographer. The basis of Vatkin’s works is the landscape, which the artist creatively reinterprets and presents in colorful spots. In turn, Bysov takes aerial photographs of specific landscapes, resulting in a composition of locally colored figures.
The project “On Earth” was highly appreciated by both specialists and viewers, as evidenced by the invitation to present it in China and Germany. Kharkiv residents were able to see the exhibition at the Municipal Gallery a month after its presentation in Kyiv.
The VOVATANYA Gallery showcased its project “11.11.11,” which featured works by 10 renowned artists: Boris Mikhailov, Vitaliy Kulikov – recognized masters; Pavlo Makov, Vachagan Norazyan, Olena Polyashchenko, Eduard Yashin – mature artists, leading participants of the Kharkiv art scene; Artem Volokitin, Hamlet Zinkovsky, Roman Minin, and Alina Kleitman – young avant-garde figures of Ukrainian contemporary art. The exhibition presented a wide range of themes and techniques in the exposition, a variety of preferences and authorial approaches, united by the intellectual space of the city.
