2017: Volodymyr Starikov “Compression”

“25 EVENTFUL WEEKS”

We continue our story about 2017 with Volodymyr Starikov’s solo exhibition “Compression”, which took place in the Municipal Gallery’s Art Basement.
Volodymyr Starikov is a longtime friend of the gallery and a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, whose works are held in private collections in Germany, Italy, Israel, Russia and Ukraine.
In this project, the artist presented color collages, his favorite graphic technique, self-contained and at times reduced to the simplicity of a sign, as well as small black-and-white sheets resembling printmaking. However, the artist created them in the old-fashioned way, using ink and pen. The title of the project symbolized handmade work representing an accumulation of thoughts, restrained feelings and innermost desires.

As part of the exhibition, a creative evening with Volodymyr Starikov was held, where the artist read poems from his new book.
