“SPIRITS”. Exhibition by Anna Seheda

27.03.2026 - 11.04.2026

Anna Seheda’s exhibition invites viewers into a hidden microcosm of Ukrainian mythology — a world that remains largely unseen and little known. Here, the idea of the invisible is not expressed through human-like figures, but through textures, forms, and microscopic structures of nature, opening up an alternative language for its interpretation.

Concept

SPIRITS is a series of intimate ceramic sculptures that reinterpret beings from Ukrainian mythology. Instead of anthropomorphic representations, they appear as manifestations of natural elements and processes — taking on forms that echo the irregularities of landscapes, the structures of stone, leaves, bark, or soil.

Scale is a key element of the project: these beings are reduced to an almost microscopic level, shifting the focus from their grandeur to a sense of proximity and presence.

Ceramics, as a material directly connected to the earth, reinforces the bond between these spirits and the natural environment, grounding them in organic textures and matter.

The exhibition also has an educational dimension: many creatures of Ukrainian mythology remain little known or have been forgotten. Turning to them expands our understanding of this mythological world and brings it back into a contemporary context.

Anna Seheda is a Ukrainian artist from Kharkiv who creates objects at the intersection of ceramics, miniature sculpture, and digital thinking. Her background combines an aerospace education with over 10 years of experience in UX/UI design. This unique combination shapes her artistic perspective — systemic and experience-oriented, yet highly sensitive to fragile and subtle states.

In her practice, the artist explores boundaries: between the inner and the outer, between function and image, between the real and the mythical. A distinct line of her work focuses on the Ukrainian bestiary.
