The first exhibition, project, a new series of watercolor works “Queues” by Odesa author and artist Irina Ozarinskaya Ozi.
Accustomed to surprising, this time Irina also looks at a social phenomenon through the eyes of an experimental artist, reviving the old Soviet/post-Soviet concept in the eyes of the contemporary viewer. Working in series, the author strives in each one to give a generalized image of the phenomenon, transformed into a sign for better memorization by the viewer. The soft watercolor manner in which each work in the series is executed captures semi-volumetric human figures in gradient tonal patches.
What is emphasized is not so much the idea of order in a queue, but the idea of standing together and the reasons for it. In the works, the silence of Zen is refracted in the silence of the white sheet as a symbol of frozen time.
